Is there something in the water in Hull that springs genius? People from the south scoff at the sound but my goodness, I have seen brilliance emerge from there.
My father’s paternal ancestors emigrated from there shortly after 1820. I hope to go out on the far peninsula near there one day.
Hull is a great place. It certainly sprang Eddie, who was a genuine magical one off. Spurn Head is a great day out. I went around it one day during the pandemic. My daughter took a fabulous Magritte like photograph of me looking at a half deflated party balloon. We imagined that they float over from miles away.
Damn. Cant post a pic in a reply. I’ll put it somewhere in the thread.
Absolutely loved Eddie's work after you introduced me to the world of The Gargoyles. I think Mrs Two-Dinners is a genuine piece of 80s pop-culture art, from the cover to the music. Cheers for sharing this Mr O'B.
An interesting choice (notwithstanding how close to God and Hull I feel). I like the observational and insightful qualities, plus the humour promised. I can identify with unused spoons. Some fetch a lot of money. Some are for nowt but there'll be one missing. And I enjoy the content of other verses here. Descriptive powers, economical, explicit.
It almost sadly reminds me of what I missed by leaving off writing as I did so long ago. The reading.
Thank you so much for sharing these Just so funny and so talented.I think Eddie appealed to me as he was unique and seemed to view the world from a different perspective to other people, one I could relate to.
I know you can't live in the past but sometimes nostalgia and going back to your happy place is good for you and that's what the Adelphi and everyone there, in the 80s is for me. It's difficult sometimes as I get very excited about it all and really I'm an interloper as I was looking into your worlds, not really part of it , just lurking on the edge ,but I'm sooh grateful for the experience of being 'introduced ' to Eddie the Gargoyles and the Velvetones as a teenager and having the great experience of finding part of that world again, though am really sorry didn't get round to ever speaking to Eddie in person, well apart from saying Hello 😊

My pleasure Scott. I could hardly type out "Johnny Machine" for laughing! You did a great job of covering Duelling Trousers!
